Inspiration From Books...

I considered that since I want my shoot quite glamorous and based on 50s fashion I would go to the library to gain a better understanding of what I am going to include.

I wanted to get images from artists such as Man Ray and Mario Testino, both artists photography is mainly black and white, and also is taken in a style that boasts women's natural beauty.

I also wanted to gain a better knowledge of 50s fashion, so i took out a Taschen book on the subject.

My Ideas For My Shoot...

After I had brainstormed ideas I decided to pick out key points about the words that I associated with the word heart and the British Heart Foundation:

50th Year Celebrations

I decided that because it's the BHF's 50th birthday I would base my shoot around 50s fashion.

Red
I am going to do my shoot in black and white and have 7 red helium balloons.

Love
-Family: I thought I could use the idea of a loving family and possibly tie the red heart helium balloons to a tree with my model stood infront of it, representing a family tree.
-Security: I have decided to use padlocks in the models hair and as body jewellery to represent the security you feel when you're in love.
-Romance: I am going to put white roses in the models hair to represent the romantic side of love.
-Belief: I think when you're in love you tend to believe anything is possible and I am going to represent this by the expression on my model's face, believing that the heart hellium balloons can reach an ultimate high.
-A 'high': I aksed a few people in a survey and they all said that when they are in love they feel at an all time high, and I am going to show this with the height of the balloons.
-'Key To The Heart': I am going to make an oversize key and attatch it to a necklace to represent having the key to the heart.

Freedom
I don't want my model to wear shoes, I want her in bare feet to express the freedom that is felt when in love, also my choice of  rural location will represent this.

Girly
I am choosing 'girly' as a theme as stereotypically girly girls are associated with hearts, I am going to portray this by the use of makeup, flowers and clothing.

Spider Diagram - ideas for "What a heart means to me"...

I decided to start off my research I would make brainstorm a spider diagram asking the question:
"What a Heart Means To You?"

I knew that brainstorming would give me inspiration to start ideas off.

Firstly I wrote down what I personally thought it meant, and then I asked a couple of people to see if their ideas were any different to mine or even elaborations of my ideas.

Once I had got a good, strong idea of what a heart means to various people, ideas started to form in my head.

Chosen themes for my photography...

I read through the words that had been brainstormed and and decided to use some of them for themes for my photography.

I ended up choosing these four words:
Belief
Girly
Free
Red

I decided on these four as I think they link nicely, and are giving me strong inspiration to produce ideas for my shoot.
